Core
At SmarterBody, we specialise in a unique approach to core training. Instead of treating the core as a single entity, we deconstruct it into individual components and provide targeted training for each one. The ultimate goal is to integrate these elements to form a “functional core”, so you know how much to use based on your activity level and personal requirements. Verbal lifestyle cues are used with visual images to enhance recall.
Re-balance
As humans we are creatures of habit — we all walk, sit and stand in certain ways that are unique to us. The result? Certain muscles will become overused and unbalanced. Our goal is to identify these issues and remedy them accordingly.
Strength
Strength is more than simply muscular power. At SmarterBody we also consider the strength of your tendons, ligaments and joints, all of which are incredibly important to your overall health and fitness. While increasing flexibility is a common goal, it is essential to also develop control to prevent injuries. Our mobility training targets the muscles surrounding the joints, allowing for free movement while simultaneously strengthening the muscles that support and stabilise the joints.
Fascial Health
Imagine the fascial network as wrapping paper that perfectly fits a gift — misalignments will lead to stretching or breaking of such paper. Asymmetrical movements will cause tightness and overstretching of such network, resulting in stress and discomfort. The key to optimal physical health lies within such intricate network of the fascial system, a complex web of connective tissue interwoven with organs, blood vessels, bones, nerves, and muscles, which plays a pivotal role in shaping your flexibility, agility, coordination, balance, and muscle endurance. Craniosacral Therapy offers an effective method to identify and release tense fascial areas.
Our Approach


Meet our founder
At SmarterBody, our heartbeat is the passion and vision of Michelle Kok, our founder and principal trainer.
Introduced to Pilates by her orthopaedic doctor due to a sports injury (in 2001), she was told that was her sole exercise option for the next six months. Attending classes three times a week, she was amazed by the results after three months: her hereditary knocked knees improved, her body became leaner, and she felt stronger. What made it even better was that classes never felt like a chore.
Out of curiosity, she took a teacher training course in 2007 to deepen her own practice.
This course evolved a realisation: teaching aligned seamlessly with her passion for continuous learning and helping others, while allowing her creativity to come through.
In 2010, Michelle made the courageous decision to leave her beloved Branding world and dive into a fulfilling career in Pilates instruction.
Rooted in empathy, Michelle's vision with SmarterBody is for individuals to understand pain does NOT need to be a part of life.
Small daily changes WILL have a big impact on the body.
The hardest part is to BELIEVE you can help yourself.

Taking inspiration from the mythical phoenix, which is said to have the ability to heal itself, our logo represents our ethos of regeneration, rebirth, resurrection and restoration — all the qualities Michelle nurtures in her clients.

Class Donations
To continue giving back to our community, we are constantly looking for ways to share the journey to health.
Any unused sessions are currently donated to those in need. Your kindness in donating a session to someone who might not be able to afford it otherwise can be life-changing and helps us to continue to provide our services for free. I was given sessions to see Michelle when I was in my final trimester of pregnancy.
Michelle helped me to strengthen my pelvic floor, core muscles and other parts of my body that would also help me after giving birth.
Michelle is able to explain how different parts of the body work, which in turn helped me to understand how to do the movements correctly.
It was especially nice to learn exercises that I could also practise at home.
The classes with Michelle were a great help in relieving soreness when I needed it most and her encouragement along the way made this experience a big blessing!
